Oklahoma Journeyman Electrician
Our Oklahoma journeyman electrician continuing education courses are code based and written using real world applications. The NEC Review Part 1 and Electrical Law course covers chapters 1 and 2 of the 1999 NEC codebook. This course offers lessons on Article 100 which includes definitions of common industry terms as set forth by the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) and the NECC (National Electrical Code Committee), gaining a more thorough understanding of the 1999 NEC codebook, and the most common misconceptions of the national electrical code.

We are currently developing Oklahoma journeyman electrician continuing education courses. The Oklahoma journeyman electrician continuing education will maintain the high stardards that American Contractor's Exam Services has set for all the training we provide. The courses that will be offered are:
- Electrical Safety - This course reviews how electricity works, grounding and GFI's, electrical emergencies, OSHA standards, and proper use of protective equipment.
- Plan Reading - This includes effective techniques of plan reading, sites plans, building plans, foundation plans, ceiling plans, framing plans, electrical plans, and architectural symbols.
- Residential Wiring - The subject matter will cover building inspections, UL listings and CSA, terminology, proper job site practices, National Electrical Code and Uniform Building Code.
- Math for Electricians - Continuing education that reviews topics such as resistive circuit analysis, fundamental electrical laws, ohm's law, voltage drop calculations, resistance, power rating of a resistor, and calculating the resistance to remote earth of ground rods.
These are the current requirements for renewing your Oklahoma journeyman electricians license. We will always provide the newest information available and will update the requirements as soon as there are changes.
- To renew your Journeyman Electrical Contractors License in the state of Oklahoma, you are required to complete 6 hours of continuing education every year.
- Continuing education must be completed on the revisions of the 1999 National Electrical Code.
- Journeyman Electrical Contractors License expires annually. Continuing education must be completed prior to expiration.
- Course providers will submit attendance sheet to the Board when course is completed. Course providers will also furnish each attendee with a certificate of completion.

A three-hour course covers the most common requirements of chapters 1 & 2 of the 2005 NEC and provides a more thorough understanding of the code. The topics covered in this class include the layout of the code, how to understand the code terminology, and the general code requirements contained in chapters one and two. These topics include, grounding and bonding, minimum required clear working space, and the proper installation of branch circuits, feeders and services. At the conclusion of this session, the user will be given a seventy five question practice test, used to prove competency in these topics.

A three-hour course covers the most common requirements of chapter 3 of the 2005 NEC and provides a more thorough understanding of the code. he topics covered in this class include basic requirements for installation of cables, outlet boxes, and raceways. During this course, the proper sizing of outlet boxes will be demonstrated, as well as the installation requirements for most of the commonly used raceways and cable types. We will also discuss the protection of conductors as related to the different environments faced. At the conclusion of this session, the user will have an option to take a seventy five question practice test, used to prove competency in these topics. The exam is very beneficial to employers.

A three-hour course covers the most common requirements of chapter 4 of the 2005 NEC and provides a more thorough understanding of the code. The topics covered in this class include special equipment such as motors, transformers, lighting fixtures, low voltage lighting, phase converters, generators, receptacles, panels, and switches. During this course, user should gain a more thorough understanding of the requirements established in this chapter. At the conclusion of this session, the user will have an option to take a seventy five question practice test, used to prove competency in these topics. The exam is very beneficial to employers.
